What the job involves

You will be part of a busy pub team and will help with serving food and drinks to the right standard, maintaining high service levels and keeping all areas tidy. The venue operates early in the day and late into the night, so the schedule can include mornings, evenings, weekends and late finishes.

Key duties

  • Take orders and prepare, dispense and serve drinks to the correct specification, either at the bar or through the customer app.
  • Deliver food to guests, carry out check-backs and clear plates within the required time.
  • Greet customers warmly, thank them and build a friendly connection.
  • Stay informed about current promotions, events and new products.
  • Keep to clean-as-you-go standards by clearing tables, wiping surfaces and completing toilet checks.
  • Support all parts of the pub as needed, including glass washing, refilling fridges and clearing the floor and beer garden.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate is upbeat, enthusiastic and eager to learn. No previous experience is required, provided you have a positive attitude, remain calm under pressure and are reliable, friendly and comfortable working as part of a team. The employer says they can teach the skills needed through training.

Pay and benefits

The advertised pay is £12.81 per hour. Benefits include a free meal and drink while on shift, 20% off food, drinks and hotel accommodation for you and up to three guests when off duty, an extra £1 per hour for shifts worked between midnight and 5:59 am, a bonus opportunity of up to 19% of pay, paid holiday, free shares after a qualifying period, and a loyalty reward scheme. Guaranteed-hours and variable-hours contracts are available.

Training and progression

The company offers structured on-the-job training, apprenticeships, management academies and cross-training into other areas such as kitchen and hotel work. There are also opportunities to progress into team leader, kitchen shift leader or pub manager roles.
