Job description
Role overview
Henderson Community College is seeking a Financial Aid Advisor II for its Student Affairs department at the Henderson campus in Auckland. This is a 12-month contract role with a standard schedule of 37.5 hours per week and an on-site work arrangement. The position is classified as non-exempt.
Position summary
In this role, you will administer student financial aid programs and help ensure that all processes align with institutional policies and funding-agency rules. You will also guide students through funding options, eligibility requirements, and application steps.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day administration of student financial aid programs while maintaining compliance with college and external funding requirements.
- Advise students on available aid opportunities, qualification criteria, and how to complete the application process.
- Prepare financial aid packages and award funding to eligible students.
- Assist with scholarship application review and awarding procedures.
- Deliver financial aid presentations for different audiences, organize workshops on campus, and coordinate with local high schools and outside agency counselors.
- Participate in committees as needed.
- Carry out additional related duties when assigned.
Qualifications and experience
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two to four years of related experience.
- Background working with students or adults from varied communities, including underprepared, low-income, and underrepresented groups.
- Strong interpersonal, written communication, data-handling, software, and customer service abilities.
- Capability to plan, coordinate, and execute events as well as routine operational tasks.
- Ability to contribute positively to teamwork within the department and broader community.
Preferred background
Prior experience in financial aid, familiarity with PeopleSoft, and experience in higher education are preferred.
