Financial Accountant

Role overview

This is an opportunity to join a large national organisation as a Financial Accountant within its finance team. The role is based in a busy operational finance setting and is best suited to professionals who have worked in industry, shared services, audit, finance operations, or financial accounting. The work is process-led and systems-oriented, with regular involvement in reporting, controls, and improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Support the month-end close process and prepare financial reports.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and post journals as needed.
• Work on revenue tracking, cashflow activities, and financial control processes.
• Use SAP or other ERP systems and contribute to process improvements.
• Carry out financial analysis and prepare reporting outputs.
• Partner with operational and finance stakeholders across the business.
• Take part in ongoing automation and continuous improvement work.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate will be ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified, with solid experience in reconciliations and month-end accounting. Exposure to ERP systems is important, and SAP experience would be an advantage. Strong Excel capability, good analytical ability, and confidence working in fast-moving finance environments are also expected. The role requires someone who is thorough, communicates well, and enjoys working with systems and processes.
