Job description
About Ramp
Ramp builds financial infrastructure that helps finance teams operate inside the transaction stream of every dollar a business spends. Its platform automates payment authorization, risk detection, spend categorization, and book closing across more than $200B in annualized spend and 70,000+ companies.
The work is fast-moving, complex, and high impact. Ramp values people who move quickly, take ownership, and are comfortable making important decisions end to end. The company places more weight on what candidates have built than where they studied.
Ramp believes ambitious businesses should have access to tools that help them save money and grow faster. The company’s customers typically see meaningful results in their first year, including lower spend and stronger revenue growth.
About the Role
Ramp is hiring a filmmaker to create Customer Stories that are both shot and edited in-house. The goal is to produce fresh, cinematic storytelling that highlights the people and businesses using Ramp to achieve notable outcomes.
These films should feel character-led and entertaining rather than like standard testimonial videos. The role requires strong knowledge of the full filmmaking process, including shaping treatments, operating equipment, and handling post-production.
You will work closely with the Customer Marketing Lead and Creative Director on every project. The Creative Director will own the concept, narrative, and treatment, while you will own the camera work, edit, and overall cinematic quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Create customer story films that feel cinematic, engaging, and entertainment-first.
- Contribute during pre-production and take ownership of production and post-production, including scouting, shot planning, pre-interviews, camera work, lighting, on-set direction, rough cuts, and final delivery.
- Help build Ramp’s New York City equipment kit by specifying, sourcing, and managing the gear, with company funding.
- Produce social-ready cutdowns from each shoot so one project can support paid, organic, and sales use cases.
- Explain creative choices and edit decisions clearly to cross-functional stakeholders.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in film production, spanning a mix of commercial and documentary-style work.
- Ability to self-shoot and self-edit; both production and post-production must be handled by you.
- A reel that demonstrates strong character-driven storytelling and the ability to find human narratives in business settings.
- Background in indie filmmaking, post-production, or film-focused production environments.
- Strong editing judgment and the ability to recognize when a cut is complete.
- Experience creating short social versions from longer documentary content without losing the core story.
- Ability to showcase customer value within a compelling narrative structure.
- Comfort working solo on shoots and directing a small crew when needed, including lighting and sound support.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted editing and post-production tools such as Descript, Runway, and Adobe AI.
- Willingness to travel frequently for shoots on location.
- Must be based in New York City, or in San Francisco with the ability to travel often.
Nice to Have
- Stills photography work that is strong enough to feature in a reel.
- Drone certification.
- Existing relationships with editors, sound professionals, lighting collaborators, or other film industry partners.
- Experience collaborating with an in-house creative director and customer marketing lead.
Benefits and Perks
- Flexible PTO.
- Unlimited AI token usage.
- Centralized ordering for home-office equipment.
- Health and wellness stipend.
- Budget for travel between offices.
- Weekly coffee stipend.
