Field Enforcement Officer

Role overview

As a Field Enforcement Officer, you will support local communities by visiting households, speaking with customers about TV licence obligations, outlining the options available to them, and guiding them toward the appropriate next steps. The position comes with full training, a company vehicle, and the independence to manage your work in the field.

Working pattern and location

The role follows a flexible schedule so customers can be reached at times that suit them best. Each week, 12 of your 36.5 hours will be worked between 4pm and 9pm Monday to Friday, or at any time during the weekend. You will start and finish from home and travel locally across Armagh using either a company vehicle or your own. To be considered, you must live in the BT31, BT33-35, or BT60-65 postcode areas. All equipment and training will be supplied.

Key duties

• Attend properties where no TV licence is registered
• Speak with customers in a clear, professional, and respectful manner
• Explain licence requirements and the choices available to them
• Arrange and oversee payment plans when suitable
• Use mobile technology to log visit results accurately
• Operate independently and make sensible decisions in the field
• Attend court from time to time as part of enforcement activity

Skills and experience needed

This position is best suited to someone with customer-facing experience, as your professionalism, attitude, and communication style are key. You should be comfortable working on your own, using mobile devices, handling varied customer interactions, and staying calm under pressure. Accuracy, good judgement, and a willingness to learn are also important.

• A full UK driving licence
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to deal with people from all backgrounds
• Calm, resilient, and professional approach in challenging situations
• Good problem-solving ability and sound judgement
• High attention to detail when capturing information
• Ability to work autonomously and manage your own diary
• Comfort using technology, including mobile phones and apps
• Positive mindset and willingness to learn
• Ability to travel locally across the stated postcode areas
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required
