Role overview

This position is part of the food and beverage team in Singapore and is focused on creating a polished, memorable dining experience for guests. The role is not limited to serving food and drinks; it also includes table setup, guest interaction, coordination with the kitchen, cleaning duties, and helping transactions feel seamless and welcoming. The position is non-management and scheduled as full time. It is based at 320 Orchard Road, Singapore 238865.

What you will do

You will support guests throughout the dining experience by greeting them warmly, understanding their needs, serving meals and beverages, preparing service areas, and keeping the outlet clean and organized. You may also be asked to assist with room service, banquets, beverage service, cashiering, and closing duties depending on operational needs.

  • Welcome guests, respond to their needs quickly and professionally, and create a friendly dining atmosphere.
  • Prepare tables and service areas according to event or outlet standards.
  • Take and deliver food and beverage orders, including special requests, allergies, and dietary requirements.
  • Coordinate with the kitchen on guest preferences, wait times, order accuracy, and product availability.
  • Keep guest and work areas clean throughout the shift and follow clean-as-you-go practices.
  • Handle payment processes and cash procedures where assigned.
  • Assist with room service, banquet service, beverage cart duties, and AV-related setup where required.
  • Complete closing tasks such as cleaning, restocking, storing equipment, and securing the outlet.
  • Support coworkers and management to ensure smooth service and guest satisfaction.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties as assigned.

Safety, standards, and workplace conduct

The role requires strict attention to safety, security, quality, and professional behavior. You are expected to follow company and department procedures, protect guest and coworker privacy, maintain a neat appearance, and work safely with equipment and materials. The job involves standing, walking, bending, lifting, and moving items during an entire shift, including objects up to 25 pounds without assistance and more than 50 pounds with assistance.

Additional responsibilities

  • Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Use PPE, proper lifting methods, and approved equipment handling practices.
  • Follow emergency response procedures such as evacuation or medical situations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
  • Speak clearly and professionally with guests, coworkers, supervisors, and managers.
  • Build positive working relationships and support teamwork across departments.
  • Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards.

Special service areas

Beverage and coffee cart: Check glassware and barware before use, prepare drinks according to recipes, keep bar areas and equipment clean, and arrange supply replenishment as needed.

Banquet service: Set up tables, coffee breaks, buffets, carts, and stations; operate and troubleshoot AV, projection, lighting, and conferencing equipment; assist with guest instructions on equipment use; and support breakdown after events.

In-room dining: Take orders by phone, confirm details, handle upselling, track delivery times, communicate delays, deliver VIP amenities and guest orders, and remove trays and trolleys from guest areas.

Cash and bank handling: Process payments, follow accounting and cash control procedures, manage the cashier bank carefully, complete shift reports, and secure all funds and receipts properly.

Steps of service: Present accurate checks, follow gratuity and payment rules, check guest satisfaction after each course, answer menu questions, and coordinate with the kitchen on timing, recooks, and availability.

Requirements

  • A Professional Certificate or NiTEC in any discipline is required.
  • Prior food and beverage experience is an advantage, though fresh graduates may also be considered.
  • Strong conversation skills and a team-first attitude are important.
  • A positive, energetic, and outgoing personality is preferred.
  • Must be able to begin work on short notice.
  • Selected candidates may be assigned to any food and beverage outlet within the hotel.
