About the Opportunity
This role sits within a team that designs and improves inflight products, elevates passenger comfort, and brings new ideas into aviation service design. The broader product development and design function works with external specialists and internal teams to turn concepts into launched solutions that improve the travel experience.
As an F&B Development Officer in Catering Services, you will help shape food and beverage offerings across the network. The position involves working with product managers, suppliers, procurement, and other stakeholders to make sure products are cost-effective, operationally practical, and aligned with high standards for quality, safety, and sustainability.
You will support the full lifecycle of food and beverage product development, including tendering, supplier oversight, product trials, performance monitoring, and launch coordination. The work directly affects the onboard dining experience and helps ensure offerings reflect brand goals and market trends.
What You Will Do
- Oversee food and beverage supply contracts and help ensure tender activities are completed on schedule and in line with procurement needs.
- Build tender materials through market study, trend review, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinate tender issuance with Procurement and respond to supplier queries so proposals are accurate and complete.
- Evaluate product samples technically in accordance with procurement rules and governance standards.
- Assist with onboarding new suppliers and continue to review their performance through sample checks and compliance verification.
- Work with suppliers and product consultants to collect product details for both digital and printed menu updates.
- Take part in development work such as testing, trials, and gathering user feedback to support decisions.
- Help plan product rollouts and make sure stakeholders are briefed and operationally ready before launch.
- Track how products perform in service through voyage feedback and stakeholder input, then recommend improvements where needed.
- Collaborate with internal teams and outside caterers or warehouses to maintain service consistency and quality.
- Carry out additional duties assigned by the Head of Department.
About You
To succeed in this role, you should bring a mix of education, hands-on experience, and operational awareness. Exposure to aviation, airline catering, or large-scale food and beverage operations is important, along with the ability to work in a busy environment with many moving priorities.
A strong grasp of supplier coordination, market research, product evaluation, and inventory processes will be useful. You should also be comfortable working with systems such as Oracle and using MS Office tools.
Requirements
- High school, vocational diploma, or bachelor’s degree plus at least 4 years of work experience related to the role, or a qualification in hospitality management or an equivalent field.
- Background in aviation, airline catering, or large-scale food and beverage operations.
- Food Safety, HACCP, ISO, or WSET certifications are considered an advantage.
- Understanding of airline catering inventory management processes.
- Ability to analyze markets and identify food and beverage trends, supported by strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office and exposure to stock control systems such as Oracle.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality, safety, and governance requirements.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced operational setting with multiple priorities.
