Role overview
American Specialty Health Incorporated is hiring a Fax Administrator to assist the Medical Necessity/Benefit Administration team. The role is centered on managing and organizing all faxes entering the department while supporting related administrative and communication tasks.
Remote work setup
This is a work-from-home position that includes remote training. You must be able to work from a designated home workspace using company-issued equipment. A dependable internet connection is required for video-based meetings, with a minimum speed of 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload. A faster connection of 100 Mbps down and 20 Mbps up is recommended for better video quality.
Key duties
- Handle every incoming Medical Necessity Review form that arrives by fax, mail, or electronic submission.
- Collect fax transmissions on an hourly schedule.
- Separate, stamp, and staple faxed documents, then classify them into seven groups: MNR Forms, Resubmissions/Modification Forms, Claims, Tracers, Personal Faxes, Miscellaneous, and Incomplete.
- Send MNR Forms and ReOpen/Modification Forms to the Front End Supervisor within 15 minutes after each hour.
- Track and record the number of faxes received each hour, including counts for each category.
- Contact practitioners about fax transmission issues and note every call in the communication log; at least 35 calls per day are expected.
- Route faxes intended for other departments using interoffice envelopes.
- Receive, sort, log, scan, and forward MNR forms that come in by mail to the Front End Supervisor as soon as they are received.
- Perform basic fax machine upkeep such as replacing toner.
- Support state-mandated calling related to adverse determinations.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED is required. The employer is looking for candidates with 0 to 1 year of general clerical experience.

The position also requires the ability to lift up to 10 lbs. The work environment is remote/work from home.
