Role Overview
The Facilities Cleanroom Technician will handle the daily operation, observation, and basic upkeep of cleanroom facilities and related systems. The role exists to keep the production environment safe, stable, and dependable, while supporting the Facilities Cleanroom Engineer with preventive maintenance, issue resolution, and improvement work.
Key Duties
- Carry out regular inspections and monitor important cleanroom conditions such as temperature, relative humidity, ESD, AMC, differential pressure, and cleanliness class.
- Maintain accurate logs, checklists, records, and reports for the cleanroom and facilities equipment.
- Report unusual readings or any out-of-limit condition quickly to the Facilities Cleanroom Engineer or supervisor.
- Support operation and maintenance activities for HVAC and air-conditioning equipment, FFUs, ionizers and ESD systems, indoor air quality systems, building components such as doors, windows, partitions and flooring, and lighting systems.
- Complete routine preventive maintenance, inspections, and cleaning tasks according to the approved schedule and procedure.
- Help investigate equipment and system problems, including basic corrective actions and replacement of parts.
- Respond to production requests, alarms, and other cleanroom-related facilities issues in a timely manner.
- Assist with containment actions during facilities or environmental incidents when instructed by the Facilities Cleanroom Engineer.
- Share observations, data, and field feedback to support root cause analysis and CAPA actions.
- Follow maintenance work instructions, safety procedures, and established guidelines without deviation.
- Close out work orders, checklists, and job reports accurately and on time.
- Update maintenance records, equipment history, and spare-part usage in the relevant systems or logs.
- Ensure all tasks comply with local laws, applicable standards, and company policies.
- Manage spare parts and consumables by receiving, labeling, storing, and issuing them as needed.
- Provide usage and stock-condition feedback to support timely replenishment.
- Escort and coordinate external contractors during maintenance, repair, and project work in cleanroom and facilities areas.
- Ensure contractors follow safety requirements, cleanroom rules, and permit-to-work controls.
- Support improvement, retrofit, and optimization activities such as shutdown work, system upgrades, and layout changes.
- Keep facilities support areas and cleanroom-adjacent spaces clean and well organized.
- Observe and promote safety rules, risk controls, and correct PPE usage.
- Take part in safety walks, 5S programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- NITEC, Higher NITEC, or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Building Services, or a related technical field, or an equivalent technical certification.
- Experience in facilities, building services, or cleanroom operations within a manufacturing setting is an added advantage.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, air distribution, and cleanroom principles is preferred.
- Ability to read basic technical drawings, equipment manuals, and standard operating procedures.
- Practical hands-on ability in equipment servicing, maintenance, and routine troubleshooting.
- Strong sense of accountability, attention to detail, and discipline in following procedures.
- Problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn from experienced technicians and engineers.
- Must be available to respond to call-ins when needed.
- Good teamwork and communication skills for working with engineers, production teams, and contractors.
- Positive, proactive, and safety-focused approach in a busy manufacturing and cleanroom environment.
