Job description
Role overview
Blackpool Zoo is seeking an Experienced Mammal Keeper to become part of its keeper team. In this role, you will support the everyday care, welfare, and husbandry of a broad collection of mammals, ranging from Cotton-top Tamarins to Asian Elephants. The ideal person will bring hands-on experience caring for multiple mammal species and taxa.
The zoo operates as part of Parque Reunidos, a major international leisure attraction group with more than 50 years of industry experience and a place among the top five global operators of regional leisure parks. The organisation is known for creating memorable experiences for millions of visitors worldwide.
Candidate profile
Applicants should have at least 3 years of experience working as a zoo keeper within a recognised zoological institution. A DMZAA course or an equivalent qualification is required. The role calls for someone who is energetic, dependable, physically fit, and willing to work hard. Experience handling Category 1 animals would be a clear advantage.
Compensation and benefits
The advertised salary is £28,016. In addition to pay, the employer offers a benefits package and the chance to progress further within the zoological sector.
Application process
Applications may be assessed as they arrive, and interviews can take place during the recruitment window. Because of this, the vacancy may close before the advertised deadline if a suitable candidate is found early. Candidates are encouraged to apply promptly. Where there is a large number of applications, individual feedback may not be provided to unsuccessful applicants; comments will only be shared with those invited to interview.

Submit a detailed CV together with a cover letter explaining why you are suitable for the position. Applications should be sent to Leah Lancashire, Personnel Manager, Blackpool Zoo, East Park Drive, Blackpool, FY3 8PP, or by email to leah.lancashire@blackpoolzoo.org.uk.
