Company Overview
Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF), formed in 2004, is a private-sector-led organisation that works with maritime industry partners and government agencies. Its mission is to strengthen public-private collaboration, position Singapore as an International Maritime Centre, and help develop a talent pipeline ready for maritime careers.
The organisation is seeking an Executive to support internships, outreach, profiling, and related engagement work.
Role Summary
This position combines programme coordination, outreach, event support, and administrative follow-through. The successful candidate will help promote maritime internships and opportunities, increase awareness of the industry among students and the public, and support initiatives that build interest in maritime careers.
Key Duties
Responsibilities cover internship promotion and matching, outreach initiatives, industry profiling, events coordination, and administrative upkeep. The role also involves working with education institutions, companies, industry groups, and government bodies to support collaboration across the maritime ecosystem.
Internships, Outreach & Profiling
- Help plan and execute activities that encourage companies to offer maritime internships and connect those opportunities with students.
- Prepare reports and basic analysis after events or initiatives where required.
- Support programmes that raise awareness of Singapore as an International Maritime Centre.
- Develop publicity and promotional ideas to help attract talent and manpower into the maritime sector.
- Represent and present information about the Singapore maritime industry to local Institutes of Higher Learning and companies.
- Assist in promoting maritime education and training through community and youth outreach efforts aimed at different stakeholder groups.
- Work with relevant industry organisations and public agencies to encourage collaboration across maritime segments.
- Promote the sector, internship opportunities, and scholarships to students and the wider public, including highlighting profiles and initiatives.
- Support other projects as needed.
Events Management
- Coordinate career fairs, school talks, and roadshows in tertiary institutions to build interest in maritime careers.
- Plan networking sessions, seminars, and talks for industry profiling and engagement with youth groups.
Administration
- Handle internship administration by working with IHLs and companies to publicise openings, collect applications, and arrange interviews when needed.
- Keep databases updated and manage website content.
Requirements
- A degree or background in Business, Marketing, Human Resources, or Communications, or at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- An eye for design; experience with Canva is advantageous.
- A proactive, careful, and outcome-focused approach, with strong planning abilities.
- Strong spoken and written English, along with confident presentation skills.
Working Arrangements
This is a 5-day work week position, with working hours from 9:00am to 6:00pm.
Compensation
The remuneration package will be based on the candidate’s background, qualifications, and work experience.
