Job Overview

The Executive Director of Technology Operations is responsible for leading the operational management, governance, and execution of the company’s technology organization. This role ensures that technology resources, systems, infrastructure, development processes, and operational activities are aligned with business objectives and delivered efficiently, securely, and at scale. The Executive Director of Technology Operations serves as the critical bridge between technology strategy and operational execution, driving operational excellence, technology governance, digital transformation, and cross-functional collaboration to support sustainable business growth and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

I. Technology Operations Strategy and Execution

Develop and implement technology operations strategies aligned with corporate and technology objectives. Translate technology roadmaps into operational plans and measurable outcomes. Drive operational excellence across software development, infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud operations, and IT service delivery. Establish governance frameworks to ensure efficient execution of technology initiatives.

II. Technology Program and Portfolio Management

Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of enterprise technology projects and programs. Manage technology portfolios, budgets, resources, and priorities to maximize business value. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. Develop executive dashboards and reporting mechanisms to provide visibility into technology performance.

III. Technology Process Optimization and Governance

Establish and standardize technology operational processes, policies, and procedures. Implement best practices across software development lifecycle (SDLC), DevOps, ITSM, Agile, and project management disciplines. Continuously improve operational efficiency through process automation and workflow optimization. Ensure compliance with internal controls, governance standards, and regulatory requirements.

IV. Infrastructure, Cloud, and Service Operations

Oversee enterprise technology infrastructure, cloud platforms, networks, and operational support services. Ensure system availability, scalability, reliability, and performance. Drive service delivery excellence through effective monitoring, incident management, and problem resolution. Lead business continuity, disaster recovery, and operational resilience initiatives.

V. Cybersecurity, Risk Management, and Compliance

Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure protection of enterprise systems, applications, and data assets. Identify and mitigate technology-related operational risks. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, security frameworks, and corporate governance requirements. Establish risk management and escalation procedures for critical technology operations.

VI. Data, Analytics, and Performance Management

Define and monitor technology KPIs, SLAs, and operational performance metrics. Utilize data analytics to improve operational efficiency and support decision-making. Develop performance reporting frameworks for executive leadership. Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on operational insights and business needs.

VII. Cross-functional Collaboration and Business Alignment

Partner with product management, engineering, IT, finance, HR, and business leaders to align technology operations with business priorities. Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders. Support enterprise transformation initiatives and technology-enabled business growth. Ensure effective coordination across global technology teams.

VIII. Leadership and Organizational Development

Build and lead high-performing technology operations teams. Develop leadership capabilities, succession planning, and talent development programs. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. Promote employee engagement and collaboration across technology functions.

Qualifications

Education Background

Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, or related fields. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.

Work Experience

Typically 18+ years of experience in technology operations, IT management, engineering operations, or related functions, including 8+ years in senior leadership roles. Proven experience managing large-scale technology organizations, digital transformation programs, and enterprise operations. Strong background in software development operations, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and technology governance. Experience in multinational corporations or high-growth technology-driven organizations preferred.
