Job description
About the Role
We are hiring a remote Excel Quality Assurance Lead on a contract basis to guide quality control across Excel and spreadsheet AI training initiatives. In this hourly contractor position, you will review AI-produced formulas, spreadsheet workflows, analysis write-ups, and the work of trainers and QAs. Your focus will be on maintaining consistency, accuracy, and alignment with project standards.
You will assess submissions for formula accuracy, spreadsheet logic, correctness of data analysis, structure, clarity, reproducibility, formatting, adherence to instructions, and compliance with project rubrics. The role also involves identifying repeated quality problems, sharing updates with trainers and QA team members, helping new contributors get started, maintaining documentation, and supporting follow-up with contributors who are not active consistently.
This position sits within a fast-growing AI data services organization that supplies training data to leading AI companies and foundation model labs. Your leadership in Excel QA will help ensure spreadsheet training outputs are practical, reliable, clearly explained, and aligned to client needs.
Selection Process
The hiring process includes an AI interview, a task specific to the domain, and a conversation with a recruiter.

There is no immediate project attached to this role. If you are a strong match, you will be contacted first when suitable work becomes available and may also gain access to future opportunities through the expert network.

- Respond to questions related to formulas, references, lookup logic, dynamic arrays, pivot tables, Power Query, modeling assumptions, and rubric interpretation.
- Reach out to inactive contributors and handle activation follow-ups.
- Build and maintain Excel documentation, style guides, examples, trackers, FAQs, honeypots, and onboarding resources.
- Lead onboarding and training sessions for Excel contributors.
- Identify weak analysis, unstable spreadsheet logic, incorrect formulas, and risky financial or business assumptions.
- Refine QA workflows based on recurring spreadsheet quality issues.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Data Analytics, Economics, Statistics, Operations, Information Systems, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Excellent English comprehension and writing ability to follow instructions and provide clear feedback.
- At least 3 years of professional Excel experience in analysis, reporting, financial modeling, operations, business intelligence, accounting, data cleaning, training, or spreadsheet QA.
- Strong understanding of formulas, functions, cell references, lookup logic, dynamic arrays, pivot tables, charts, conditional formatting, data validation, and spreadsheet modeling best practices.
- Ability to detect issues such as wrong formulas, incorrect references, circular logic, weak assumptions, missed edge cases, fragile models, misleading charts, or incomplete explanations.
- Preferred familiarity with advanced Excel tools such as XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, FILTER, SORT, UNIQUE, LET, LAMBDA, Power Query, Power Pivot, VBA/macros, Solver, and scenario modeling.
- Prior experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, analysts, reviewers, finance professionals, educators, or QAs is strongly preferred.
- Comfort using Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, Excel Online, and project management systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage style guides, trackers, FAQs, honeypots, calibration tasks, and onboarding materials.
- Experience in AI training, data annotation, LLM evaluation, spreadsheet QA, or rubric-based review is a strong advantage.
