Role overview
An opportunity is available to join Bellway, one of the United Kingdom’s leading house builders, within the Kent Division in West Malling. The successful candidate will work in the Technical department as an Estimator, supporting the preparation of development and land appraisal cost plans.
What the role involves
Reporting to the Technical Director, this position focuses on producing accurate, timely, and efficient estimating work that helps the business unit deliver its targets. The role supports land opportunities, budgeting, and viability assessments across the division.
Key duties
- Produce preliminary viability assessments for land bids for approval by the Technical Director.
- Work closely with the Land Department on current and upcoming development opportunities.
- Build viability estimates covering construction costs, site-specific abnormalities, professional fees, site management costs, and preliminaries, and enter all development costs into appraisal and viability documents.
- Support value engineering activity during the appraisal and pre-start stages.
- Source specialist quotations, such as demolition-related pricing, to reduce risk in land viability calculations.
- Ensure full viability submissions follow Group Guidelines covering Viabilities, Budgets, and Valuations.
- Help the Commercial Manager prepare pre-budget site costs.
- Assist in reviewing Site Budget and Analysis of Variance reports used to issue site budgets in line with Group Guidelines.
- Offer guidance to Surveyors during project handover as needed.
- Compile and provide statistical analysis when required.
Experience and qualifications
The ideal candidate will have experience working as an Estimator for a national housebuilder and hold a current CSCS card or an equivalent qualification.

Working arrangements
