Job description

About AIM Educational Services

AIM Educational Services is an education consulting firm that offers end-to-end support for admissions planning and test preparation to students and their families. The company’s goal is to help learners reach their full potential in and beyond school through tailored advice and hands-on guidance. AIM has built a strong record of helping students get into their preferred schools and achieve notable improvements in standardized test scores. Its workplace culture centers on student-first advising, academic development, and clear, measurable outcomes. The organization is also growing its offerings to better support students facing increasingly competitive admissions requirements.

Role Overview

The Essay Coach helps students strengthen their writing and create polished essays for academic applications, scholarships, college admissions, and professional use. In this role, you will guide students through idea generation, structuring, research, building arguments, grammar, style, and revisions, while also promoting independent thinking and academic honesty.

Key Functions

You will work closely with other advisors so that each student’s essay plan fits smoothly into their broader admissions strategy and deadlines. The position also includes monitoring student progress, keeping accurate notes after sessions, and maintaining professional communication with families and internal team members. You are expected to model strong academic integrity, help create a supportive and inclusive learning atmosphere, and contribute ideas that improve AIM’s essay support materials and processes.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have excellent writing, editing, and proofreading ability, along with the confidence to give clear, useful feedback on academic and admissions essays. Prior experience coaching, tutoring, or teaching writing, English, or a related subject is preferred, especially in one-on-one or small-group settings. Strong communication and people skills are important, as is the ability to connect with students from different backgrounds and explain complicated concepts in a simple way. Good organization and time management are also needed to handle multiple students, meet deadlines, and maintain reliable records. Familiarity with high school and college admissions expectations for personal statements and supplemental essays is helpful, and experience with standardized tests or admissions consulting would be an added advantage. A bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Communications, Humanities, or a similar field is required, while an advanced degree or formal training in writing or education is considered a plus. The role requires working on-site in Kingston, following a steady full-time schedule, and collaborating effectively within a student-focused team.
