Opportunity
Alberta Health Services is seeking a reliable, self-driven Environmental Services worker to support safe, high-standard cleaning in a healthcare setting. This role is designed for someone who takes pride in quality work, follows safety practices carefully, and is willing to be trained in healthcare cleaning and disinfection procedures.
The successful candidate will receive training to clean and disinfect patient rooms, clinical spaces, offices, and shared staff/public areas in line with Alberta Health Services standards. Work schedules can include day, evening, and weekend shifts.
Role Overview
You will help maintain clean, sanitary, and orderly conditions across both clinical and non-clinical areas within a hospital or other facility. The work involves routine housekeeping duties as well as specialized cleaning tasks required in a healthcare environment.
Duties
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in assigned areas.
- Refill bathroom supplies and replace linens as needed.
- Strip beds and make them up after cleaning or patient discharge.
- Use industrial cleaning equipment for floor care and restoration work.
- Wash ceilings and windows thoroughly when required.
- Remove hazardous waste following proper procedures.
- Restock cleaning products and linens.
- Notice and report unsafe conditions or hazards to the Working Leader.
- May assist with training or orientation for Environmental Services or Laundry staff.

Required Qualifications
Applicants should have completed Grade 10 or an equivalent level of education. Basic confidence using computers and smartphones is required. The role also requires the ability to remain on your feet and walking for long periods and to perform repetitive movements throughout the shift. Candidates must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and push or pull up to 50 lbs of force.
Additional Requirements
You should also be comfortable using a computer, including Microsoft Office applications. Physically, you must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 30 lbs of force.
Preferred Background
Prior experience in cleaning is preferred. Experience working in a healthcare cleaning environment would be considered an advantage.

The job is a full-time regular position. The work schedule may include a mix of day, evening, and weekend shifts. Alberta Health Services will provide training needed to perform healthcare-grade cleaning and disinfection safely and according to its standards.
