English Language Expert

Role Overview

As an English Language Expert working remotely on an hourly contractor basis, you will assess AI-generated English responses and, when needed, produce expert-level language content. The work focuses on checking reasoning quality, reviewing step-by-step edits, and giving clear, practical feedback that helps improve model outputs.

You will examine answers for accuracy, clarity, and alignment with the prompt; spot issues in logic, meaning, methodology, or conceptual understanding; verify facts when required; and create high-quality explanations and revised versions that demonstrate the correct approach. You will also compare and rate multiple AI outputs based on correctness and the strength of their reasoning.

This opportunity sits within a fast-growing AI data services organization that creates training data for major AI companies and foundation-model labs. Your language expertise will contribute directly to making AI systems more precise, natural, and easier to understand.

Responsibilities

• Write detailed prompts on a range of topics and craft strong reference responses to support AI learning.
• Review and rank AI-generated answers to improve accuracy, fluency, and contextual fit.
• Check model outputs for errors, inconsistencies, and possible bias, and confirm reliability across different use cases.
• Assess responses for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with the prompt requirements.
• Detect flaws in logic, meaning, process, or subject understanding.
• Fact-check information where necessary and provide precise correction notes.
• Produce refined explanations and model revisions that reflect the correct method.
• Compare multiple responses and judge which one shows stronger correctness and reasoning.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree or above in Linguistics, English, Translation/Localization, Communications, Journalism, or a related discipline.

Strong English ability is essential, with C1 as the minimum requirement and C2 or native-level fluency preferred. Multilingual candidates with professional-level ability in at least one additional language are especially welcome.

You should have a solid grasp of grammar, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, discourse organization, and style editing across different tones and formats. A sharp eye for subtle issues such as meaning shifts, ambiguity, inconsistency, and other nuanced errors is important, along with the ability to explain fixes clearly in writing.

Experience applying style guides and maintaining consistency in tone, terminology, punctuation, and capitalization is valuable. You should be dependable, self-managed, and able to work consistently in a remote hourly contractor setup across time zones.

Prior exposure to AI data training or annotation, editorial quality assurance, localization QA, or professional copyediting is highly preferred. Strong practical experience with tools such as Perplexity, Gemini, ChatGPT, and similar platforms is also required.

Education Requirements

Language Requirements

Comfort with AI and writing tools such as Perplexity, Gemini, and ChatGPT is important. The role also requires careful independent work and consistent output in a distributed, cross-time-zone environment.
