English Language Expert

Role Overview

We are looking for an English Language Expert to work remotely on an hourly contractor basis. In this role, you will assess AI-generated English responses and may also produce expert-level language content. Your work will focus on checking reasoning quality, reviewing step-by-step edits, and giving clear, practical feedback that improves the output.

You will evaluate answers for accuracy, clarity, and how well they follow the prompt, while also spotting issues in logic, meaning, method, or conceptual understanding. Where needed, you will verify facts, draft strong explanations, and prepare corrected versions that show the right approach. You will also compare multiple AI responses and judge them on correctness and the quality of reasoning.

This position is part of a fast-scaling AI data services company that supports some of the world’s largest AI companies and foundation model teams. Your language expertise will help make AI systems more accurate, natural, and easier to understand.

Responsibilities

• Review AI-generated English outputs for correctness, clarity, and prompt alignment.
• Identify problems in logic, meaning, methodology, or subject understanding.
• Check facts when required and confirm whether statements are reliable.
• Write clear explanations and improved versions that demonstrate the correct method.
• Compare multiple AI answers and rate them based on accuracy and reasoning quality.
• Create prompts and sample responses across a range of topics to support AI training.
• Test AI systems for mistakes and possible bias so their behavior is dependable across use cases.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in Linguistics, English, Translation/Localization, Communications, Journalism, or a similar discipline.
• Advanced English ability, with C2 or native-level proficiency preferred and at least C1 required.
• Professional-level ability in at least one additional language is strongly preferred.
• Solid command of grammar, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, discourse structure, and stylistic editing.
• Strong accuracy in spotting meaning shifts, ambiguity, inconsistencies, and subtle language errors.
• Ability to explain corrections clearly and professionally in writing.
• Comfort working with style guides and applying consistent tone, terminology, punctuation, and capitalization.
• Dependable, self-managed, and comfortable working as an hourly remote contractor across time zones.
• Prior exposure to AI data annotation, editorial QA, localization QA, or professional copyediting is strongly preferred.
• Hands-on experience with tools such as Perplexity, Gemini, ChatGPT, and similar AI platforms.

Additional Information

This is a contract role based remotely from London, England, United Kingdom. Compensation is listed on an hourly basis, but no pay amount was provided. The opportunity is intended for future project matching rather than an immediate assignment.
