English Language Expert

Role Overview

This is a remote, hourly contractor position focused on reviewing AI-produced English responses and, when needed, creating expert-level language content. The work centers on judging reasoning quality, checking step-by-step edits, and giving clear, practical feedback that improves accuracy and clarity.

You will evaluate answers for correctness, readability, and how well they follow the prompt. The role also involves spotting issues in logic, meaning, approach, or conceptual understanding, verifying facts when necessary, drafting strong explanations, and rewriting model outputs so they demonstrate the right method. In addition, you will compare and score multiple AI responses based on overall quality and reasoning.

This position sits within a fast-growing AI data services company that supplies training data to major AI companies and foundation model labs. Your language expertise will help make AI systems more accurate, natural, and easy to understand.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in Linguistics, English, Translation/Localization, Communications, Journalism, or a closely related discipline.
• Excellent English ability, with C2 or native-level competence preferred and at least C1 proficiency required.
• Multilingual candidates are preferred, especially those with professional-level ability in at least one additional language.
• Strong command of grammar, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, discourse structure, and style adaptation across different registers.
• Careful attention to detail, especially for identifying meaning changes, ambiguity, contradictions, and subtle mistakes, with the ability to explain corrections clearly in writing.
• Comfort with style guides and consistency standards for tone, terminology, punctuation, and capitalization.
• Ability to work independently and reliably in an hourly remote contractor setup across different time zones.
• Prior experience in AI data training, annotation, editorial QA, localization QA, or professional copyediting is highly preferred.
• Practical experience using tools such as Perplexity, Gemini, ChatGPT, and similar platforms.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed prompts and responses on a range of topics to support AI training and improve model understanding.
• Assess and rank AI-generated answers to strengthen fluency, accuracy, and relevance to context.
• Check AI outputs for errors, inconsistencies, or bias and help confirm reliability across different use cases.
• Review reasoning quality, step-by-step edits, and explanations to ensure the final output is methodologically sound.
• Write precise feedback and revised versions that demonstrate clearer, more accurate language usage.
