Engineer - Quality Control - Site (Civil)

Role Overview

This position is focused on site quality control for civil works, with responsibility for preparing, reviewing, and enforcing quality systems and documentation in line with project specifications and relevant IS codes.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and verify the project quality plan, method statements, and inspection/test plans against the applicable specifications and IS codes.
• Set up or develop the design mix at site as required.
• Maintain all quality-related site records, including the drawing register and checklists.
• Review item specifications to understand the work requirements before execution.
• Ensure the correct construction methods and work instructions are being followed across site activities.
• Handle materials management and support control of incoming and used materials.
• Carry out scheduled supervision of site works.
• Manage reporting, documentation, and document control for the quality department.
• Coordinate among the client, contractor, site team, and consultants.
• Coordinate drawings with the consultant as needed.
• Inspect incoming materials at site for material test certificates and arrange qualification tests as defined in the inspection/test plan or method statement.
• Perform quality checks for site activities such as utility diversion works, secant piles, capping beams, flood walls, rock anchoring, RCC waller beams, rock bolting, excavation, drilling, controlled blasting, and shotcrete, as per the project’s quality procedures.
• Coordinate with GC/PMRP engineers for site inspections when required and obtain the necessary clearances.
• Deliver quality toolbox talks and lead weekly site meetings to guide engineers and workmen toward better workmanship and higher construction quality.
• Confirm that only approved materials are used on site and that traceable records of quality checks are properly maintained.
• Identify non-conformities against the inspection/test plan or SOPs and work with the site team to close them within the required timeline.
• Review calibration certificates for equipment used at site and ensure instruments in use are within valid calibration status.
• Carry out sampling and visual inspection of concrete, shotcrete, and cement grout.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of civil construction quality control processes and site inspection practices.
• Working knowledge of specifications, IS codes, inspection/test plans, and method statements.
• Ability to manage quality documentation, traceability records, and drawing registers.
• Experience in coordinating with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal site teams.
• Knowledge of material inspection, calibration checks, and non-conformance handling.
• Familiarity with civil works such as excavation, blasting, piling, anchoring, RCC, shotcrete, and grouting.
