Job description

Company Overview

ADNOC Group’s largest oil-producing business is responsible for more than half of ADNOC’s total crude output. It is also the country’s longest-established oil producer, with roots going back to 1939, when a 75-year concession was granted to search for oil and gas in Abu Dhabi.

The company is also recognized for its sustainability leadership. It was the first organization globally to capture carbon from the iron and steel sector, and its Al Reyadah CCUS plant can capture 800,000 tonnes of CO2 annually from Emirates Steel Industries for use in the Bab and Rumaitha fields to support enhanced oil recovery. This facility plays an important role in ADNOC’s 2030 sustainability ambitions.

Role Purpose

This position is responsible for planning, supervising, and performing a range of rigless well operations, testing activities, and stimulation work to improve the performance of oil and gas producing wells, as well as water supply and water/gas injection wells. The role also provides technical input to field operations to support hydrocarbon production and the effective use of water and gas injection systems.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop work programs for rigless operations, perforation, kick-off activities, stimulation jobs, and well testing that will be executed by service contractors.
  • Prepare procedures for different well test types, including multi-rate production and injection tests, as well as isochronal and modified isochronal tests; oversee the testing process and review the initial findings.
  • Track all wireline activities performed by contractors, review the associated reports, and forward them to Asset Development for additional analysis and follow-up.
  • Supervise production logging jobs and carry out first-pass interpretation and evaluation of the results.
  • Observe the performance of oil and gas producers and water injection wells, identify well issues, recommend corrective actions, and advise on workover needs with justification and well-by-well prognosis.
  • Coordinate and oversee testing and maintenance of downhole equipment.
  • Assess the performance of water injection clusters and discuss long-term injection testing outcomes with engineers from other departments.
  • Monitor the operation and performance of installed production equipment.
  • Contribute to technical studies related to water and gas injection, artificial lift, oil and gas operations, and facilities optimization or modification as assigned.
  • Maintain a detailed database covering well history, oil and gas output, water production and injection, and gas injection statistics.
  • Help develop operating, reporting, and record-keeping procedures for oil, gas, and water production and injection performance.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent discipline is required.

Experience

Candidates should bring at least 8 years of experience in petroleum engineering, with practical exposure to workover, completion, well testing, and production operations.

Budget and Reporting

The role operates within the approved financial budget. Direct and indirect reporting lines will follow the organization chart.
