Employment Coach

Role overview

Workways Australia is seeking a full-time permanent Employment Coach based in Capalaba, Queensland. In this role, you will help people move closer to work by linking them with the right support, strengthening their job readiness, and guiding them toward sustainable employment and greater independence.

What you will do

• Explain program expectations clearly so customers understand their obligations and the need to stay engaged in employment-focused activities.
• Assess each customer’s barriers to work and arrange suitable support, including vocational and non-vocational assistance, site-based activities, and job-matching help.
• Run and facilitate group sessions that build non-vocational capability and improve job search readiness.
• Build and maintain partnerships with community organisations to ensure customers receive well-rounded support.
• Regularly review customer needs and adjust support plans so they remain relevant to individual circumstances.
• Make reverse marketing calls to employers to help place participants into suitable jobs.

About you

You should be motivated by helping people, able to balance strong results with a people-first approach, and comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders. This position also calls for strong customer service skills, confidence in facilitating small groups, good computer skills, and the ability to work in a contract-compliant environment.

Experience and selection criteria

• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate, consult, and liaise effectively.
• Competence using Windows and the MS Office suite.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in employment services or a related area would be an advantage.
• A current driver licence is required.
• Successful candidates must be willing to complete a satisfactory police check and a Working With Children Check / Blue Card as a condition of employment.
