Job description

Role overview

This position is part of the Michael Kors Retail North America HR team and focuses on employee relations support across the West Coast. The ideal candidate is collaborative, energetic, highly communicative, and comfortable working in a fast-changing setting. A curious, improvement-oriented mindset, strong objectivity, and genuine interest in advising employees and leaders are key to success in this role.

What you will do

  • Build strong working relationships with field employees and people leaders to support a healthy employee relations environment.
  • Advise field teams on employee relations matters, including policy interpretation, procedures, coaching, and practical resolution strategies.
  • Investigate employee complaints and manage cases through the internal case management system.
  • Partner with the legal team to recommend and approve performance management action plans.
  • Oversee the disciplinary process and work with field leadership to implement corrective action.
  • Collect and review employee relations data to spot patterns and emerging issues.
  • Help identify training and development opportunities that improve employee experience and performance.
  • Ensure employment practices remain aligned with applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Conduct exit interviews for voluntary resignations and analyze findings to recommend improvements.
  • Prepare reports related to exit interviews, hotline activity, and corrective action documentation.
  • Protect sensitive information and escalate matters when required.
  • Contribute to global HR programs and company-wide initiatives.
  • Support additional special projects as needed.

Required background

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • 2 to 3 years of progressive HR experience, ideally in employee relations, conflict resolution, or a similar HR specialty.
  • Hands-on experience managing employee relations matters and working with labor law issues.
  • Working knowledge of HR functions, policies, and standard people practices.
  • Strong organizational habits with excellent attention to detail.
  • Clear communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and resolve disagreements.
  • Analytical thinking and strong problem-solving ability.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred profile

  • Background in retail or fashion is a strong advantage.
  • A proactive, practical, solutions-focused approach.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Skill in prioritizing work in a busy, fast-paced setting.
  • Interest in continuous learning and building business acumen.

Additional information

There is a strong preference for candidates located in California. Qualified applicants based in other key markets, including Texas, may also be considered if they can work according to West Coast hours.
