About the role
As an Emergency & Security Officer within the Health, Safety, Environment & Community team, you will help protect the safety, security and welfare of the workforce. This is a practical, hands-on position focused on emergency response, first aid, site security, and ensuring essential equipment and systems remain ready for use.
The role suits someone who is calm under pressure, dependable, proactive and confident communicating with others. You will be contributing directly to safe and secure operations every day.
Work roster and location
- Roster: 7 days on, 7 days off, with 12-hour day and night shifts
- Work locations: Peak Mine in Cobar, NSW; Federation Mine in Nymagee, NSW; Brisbane CBD; and the Cobar region of NSW
Travel and relocation
Residents benefit from a family-friendly Cobar lifestyle and a balanced roster. Relocation support is available, along with a residential allowance.
Responsibilities
- Act as the initial responder to emergencies and assist with incident management
- Manage site security, including access control and adherence to security procedures
- Provide first aid and advanced first aid support across operational areas
- Carry out daily, weekly and monthly inspections of emergency and first aid equipment
- Complete on-site screening for drugs, alcohol and hydration
- Keep reports, registers and security documentation accurate and confidential
- Take part in the Mines Emergency Response Team and support ongoing safety improvements
Requirements
- Prior experience in emergency services or the mining sector is highly valued
- A current Class C driver licence
- Occupational First Aid Skill Set (HLTSS00068 or equivalent)
- HLTPAT005 certification for collecting specimens for drugs of abuse testing
- Strong computer literacy, including MS Office applications
- Clear communication and strong interpersonal abilities
- Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively
- NSW Security Licence and Certificate III in Emergency Response are desirable
- Working knowledge of incident management systems and emergency response procedures
