About the Role

Dairymaster is seeking a proficient Electrical Engineer to join their global headquarters in Causeway, Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland. This full-time position involves taking a lead role in the design, development, and regulatory compliance of electrical systems used in machinery. The role provides the engineer with independence and responsibility over projects from inception through to delivery, working alongside mechanical, software, and project management teams on various machinery projects within a dynamic setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage projects independently from concept phase to final implementation, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve high-quality outcomes within timelines.
  • Create and execute testing procedures to verify electrical system functionality and adherence to applicable industry standards and regulations.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical components, including performing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Continuously improve technical skills through company-provided training and self-directed learning, especially in CE marking, safety standards, and company-specific products.
  • Assist with internal and external audits focusing on machinery safety and CE compliance.
  • Lead the CE marking process documenting and ensuring compliance with directives such as Machinery Directive/Regulation, Low Voltage Directive, and EMC Directive along with harmonized standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation including risk assessments, test reports, circuit diagrams, and declarations of conformity following machinery regulations.
  • Perform risk assessments adhering to ISO 12100 and internal protocols to identify and mitigate machine hazards.
  • Design, validate, and document safety control systems such as emergency stops and interlocks to meet essential health and safety requirements (EHSR).
  • Keep abreast of updates in CE marking legislation, industrial cybersecurity standards, and other regulatory developments, participating in training as needed.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least 3 years of experience in electrical engineering focusing on electrical system design and optimization within machinery manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated expertise in machinery building procedures, including preparation of technical files and conducting risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of key regulations such as Machinery Directive, Low Voltage Directive, EMC Directive, and harmonized standards.
  • Experience in designing and validating safety-related control systems.
  • Proficiency with electrical testing instruments and measurement devices.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Autodesk Electrical software.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and engage with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proactive in learning new technologies and improving methodologies.
  • Detail-oriented with effective task prioritization abilities.
  • Proven project leadership skills ensuring delivery within scope, budget, and schedules.
  • Desirable: experience with PLCs, Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), low voltage switchgear, and knowledge of industrial cybersecurity considerations for machinery.
