About the role
This is a permanent, full-time Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) Audit & Compliance Advisor / Officer position based onsite in Christchurch, New Zealand. The role supports business protection and continuity by making sure EH&S obligations are met across a complex operational setting. You will partner with leaders, employees, contractors, and EH&S representatives to strengthen safety culture and support ongoing improvement. The position combines hands-on EH&S support with planning, compliance, and continuous improvement work.
Key responsibilities
- Offer practical EH&S guidance, coaching, and day-to-day support across the organisation.
- Carry out audits, assess risks, and investigate incidents.
- Support contractor oversight and help meet PCBU compliance duties.
- Contribute to building and improving EH&S systems and programmes.
- Deliver training and awareness activities related to EH&S.
- Develop effective working relationships with leaders, staff, contractors, and EH&S representatives.
About you
- You hold a relevant tertiary qualification.
- You have Lead Auditor certification.
- A recognised health and safety qualification such as NEBOSH International General Certificate, or an equivalent credential, is preferred.
- You bring proven EH&S experience gained in a medium or large organisation.
- You have worked with EH&S systems, auditing, investigations, and risk management.
- You communicate clearly, build relationships easily, and stay well organised.
- You take a practical, solutions-oriented approach and enjoy continuous improvement.
- You have strong attention to detail and solid IT skills.
- You are legally entitled to work in New Zealand.
- Experience in operational, production, engineering, or manufacturing environments will be an advantage.

Christchurch Engine Centre is a joint venture between Pratt & Whitney and Air New Zealand, providing maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for all V2500 engine variants.
