Job description
Role overview
The Renfrew County District School Board is seeking two Educational Support Personnel positions at Champlain Discovery Public School in Pembroke, Ontario. This assignment is scheduled at 100% FTE, which equals 35 hours each week.
What you will do
The successful candidates must be ready and able to carry out the core duties associated with Educational Support Personnel work. These include supporting students with toileting, diapering, feeding, lifting, transferring, positioning, and helping with mobility.
Qualifications and experience
A minimum of a two-year community college diploma in a social services discipline such as DSW, CYW, or SSW is required, or an equivalent mix of education and experience that the Board considers acceptable. Transcripts may be requested to confirm relevant coursework.
Applicants should also have demonstrated willingness and capability to perform the physical and personal care duties required in this role.
Additional training and assets
- Training in Autism Spectrum Disorder support
- Behaviour Management Systems (BMS)
- Safe lifting training
- WHMIS certification
- Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS)
- Experience with computer-based supports and adaptive or assistive technology is considered an advantage
Hiring and employment conditions
Recruitment will be carried out in accordance with the Collective Agreement for Educational Support Personnel and the Renfrew County District School Board administrative procedures. Internal members of the Board’s Educational Support Personnel bargaining unit will be considered before external applicants. The Board also reserves the right not to appoint anyone to the role.
Any job offer will depend on receiving a current vulnerable sector screening and educational credentials that are acceptable to the District.
