Job description

Overview

Google is seeking an Economic Policy Manager in Singapore to shape policy approaches that support innovation, investment, and AI-driven economic growth across Asia-Pacific and emerging markets. The role sits within the Government Affairs and Public Policy team and focuses on the intersection of economics, technology, trade, and public policy.

In this position, you will work with internal teams and external stakeholders to build economic strategies, policy narratives, and proposals that help advance business priorities and support a healthy policy environment for technology adoption. You will also analyze laws and policy proposals, contribute economic and trade insights, and help address discriminatory tax or regulatory actions.

Google will give preference to candidates who already have the legal right to work in Singapore and do not need visa sponsorship.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • At least 7 years of experience in policy analysis and policy campaigns focused on technology issues or the surrounding policy landscape.
  • At least 7 years of experience working in government, think tanks, public interest organizations, technology industry associations, or corporate public policy teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of work on economic issues connected to technology, with regular engagement with policymakers.
  • Experience partnering with APAC teams and turning strategy into practical policy outcomes.
  • Ability to collect insights and explain complex technology policy matters clearly to both policymakers and general audiences.
  • Strong track record of collaboration and relationship-building with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Solid grounding in economics and technology policy.

Role Details

The GAPP Economic Policy team develops policy strategies that help capture the economic and social upside of technology while reducing risks that could harm growth and engagement. The team works across the company and with outside partners on issues such as economics, labor, investment, tax, and trade, tying them into broader policy and regulatory discussions.

You will collaborate with teams across Asia-Pacific and emerging markets to craft economic strategies that support Google’s priorities and AI-enabled economic development. The role involves producing analysis, reports, and messaging for policymakers; creating policy proposals that encourage investment, infrastructure development, and AI adoption; and using economic and trade tools to respond to unfavorable tax and regulatory measures. You will also provide guidance to internal teams and work with think tanks and similar organizations to advance economic policy goals.

Candidates are considered without regard to race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, veteran status, or criminal history, subject to applicable law.
