Job Overview

This position requires a detail-oriented drafting technician proficient in preparing engineering designs, blueprints, and detailed construction documentation. The role is on-site in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and leadership within the drafting team.

Responsibilities

  • Create precise engineering drawings and designs that adhere to project specifications.
  • Interpret blueprints to understand and meet work requirements effectively.
  • Provide training and guidance to newly recruited drafting staff.
  • Develop construction specifications, including cost and material estimation.
  • Draft technical reports and write detailed specifications for projects.
  • Prepare complete documentation packages and ensure accuracy of drawing sets.
  • Review drawings to identify and correct any errors or inconsistencies.
  • Collaborate with clients, engineers, and production specialists to define product requirements.
  • Lead and instruct drafting groups to maintain high-quality deliverables.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • 2 to 3 years of practical experience in detailing drafting.
  • Expertise in fabrication and quality assurance or control environments.
  • Familiarity with construction, industrial design, project management, testing, drafting, and concrete products.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Tekla and MS Office suite including spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Experience with internet applications, desktop applications, and project management software.
  • Knowledge of file management, programming software, business diagramming, mapping and data visualization tools.
  • Skills in data analysis, database software, networking hardware and software, and device drivers.
