Job description

About the Organisation

Carpentaria is a not-for-profit provider of disability and therapy services for children, adolescents, and adults. Its services include allied health therapy programs such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and psychology, as well as independent living support, a pathways program, employment and training, specialist disability accommodation, and out-of-home care.

The organisation is focused on delivering flexible, innovative services that help people thrive and live fulfilling lives. It is guided by a strong commitment to respecting each person’s right to make informed decisions about their own life.

About the Role

The Director of Quality, Safeguarding and Risk will lead a specialist team covering quality, safeguarding, clinical governance, and compliance. The position is responsible for building and embedding best-practice governance structures that support complex, high-acuity services across disability, children and youth, aged care, therapy, and community programs throughout the Northern Territory.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and the Chief Executive Officer, this executive role acts as the key adviser to the CEO, COO, executive leadership team, and governance committees on quality, safeguarding, clinical governance, organisational risk, compliance, practice excellence, and continuous improvement.

Key Capabilities Sought

  • A degree in health, nursing, allied health, human services, risk management, governance, business, or a closely related field.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a senior leadership role within disability, health, community services, aged care, or child protection.
  • Proven ability to lead quality, safety, safeguarding, and risk-related functions.
  • Strong working knowledge of NDIS Practice Standards and Commission requirements.
  • Experience managing enterprise-wide risk frameworks.
  • Background in clinical governance or safeguarding systems leadership.
  • Experience coordinating audits and accreditation activities for an organisation.
  • Well-developed analytical, reporting, and governance capability.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and leadership skills.

Reward and Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a competitive remuneration package together with a range of benefits, including a fully maintained motor vehicle, mobile phone, professional development allowance, salary packaging worth up to an additional $6,400, 5 weeks of annual leave with 17.5% leave loading, access to free confidential counselling through the Employee Assistance Program, on-site cafe access, and free parking.

Recruitment Process

Selection is based on values, skills, and qualifications. Interested candidates should provide a resume and a one-page summary of relevant experience. Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and interviews may be arranged before the closing date, so early submission is encouraged.

Applications from recruitment agencies will not be considered for this position.
