Director of Technology & Systems

Role Overview

A private family office supporting an ultra-high-net-worth household is looking for a seasoned technology leader to run residential and office technology across a range of homes and creative spaces. The role reports to the Director of Residences and is centered on keeping networking, audiovisual, automation, and communications systems operating smoothly, securely, and without interruption, while also assessing system performance and introducing new technologies in a thoughtful way.

Along with daily oversight of all technology operations, this position will shape longer-term infrastructure plans, manage upgrades, and maintain strong relationships with outside vendors. Close coordination with the Business Office, Chief Security Officer, and other advisors is important to support cybersecurity and dependable systems across several locations. The role also includes leadership of a small on-site AV/IT team.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage IT, networking, AV, and home automation environments across multiple properties.
• Keep connectivity reliable, systems secure, and the experience consistent for both family members and staff.
• Oversee core infrastructure such as enterprise networking, wireless systems, end-user hardware refreshes, and cloud-based services.
• Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls, secure remote access, and device administration practices.
• Supervise sophisticated residential AV setups, including theater rooms, distributed media systems, and conference technology.
• Drive technology rollout efforts, upgrades, and improvement initiatives.
• Handle vendor coordination, consultant management, and technology budget oversight.
• Maintain detailed documentation and operational procedures for all systems.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience managing IT and AV systems in private estates, family offices, luxury residences, or comparable environments.
• Deep familiarity with Apple environments, enterprise-grade networking, and current collaboration tools.
• Hands-on experience with residential automation, distributed AV architecture, and high-performance home network design.
• Working knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and secure cloud or hybrid setups.
• Highly organized, discreet, and comfortable in a service-focused environment.
• References and a background check are required.

Additional Information

This is a New York City-based position with frequent travel to the Hamptons and other homes, including domestic and international destinations. The schedule is full-time, with flexibility required for travel and occasional support outside standard hours. The role supervises a small AV/IT support team. Reporting Structure

The position reports to the Director of Residences and works closely with the Business Office, the Chief Security Officer, and external advisors.
