Job description
About the role
Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is working toward a 2028 ambition in which everyone in City and Hackney can access excellent, joined-up care that is both sustainable and continuously improved through innovation. As the organisation evolves from a conventional community and acute provider into a population-health and place-based partner, this role will help drive the strategy and transformation work needed to improve health outcomes and life chances across a diverse local population.
The Director of Programmes and Transformation will give both strategic and hands-on leadership for the Trust’s strategic objectives, guiding the Planning and Programme Management Office (PMO) and overseeing the full transformation portfolio, including the Cost Improvement Programme (CIP) and other Trust-wide and system-level change initiatives.
This senior leader will act as the organisation’s key programme lead, aligning and assuring delivery across transformation priorities to support long-term sustainability, stronger operations, and ongoing improvements in quality, performance, and financial delivery. The role also serves as the formal deputy to the Deputy CEO and the senior lead for planning and strategy development and execution.
In addition to leading annual planning processes, the postholder will help shape and deliver the refreshed strategy and strategic priorities. The Trust is a high-performing and ambitious organisation serving Hackney, East London, The City, and beyond, and has recently achieved the highest possible CQC rating of Outstanding.
Homerton Healthcare provides integrated hospital and community health services for the local population, along with specialist services for a broader patient group. The Trust also manages services based at St Leonard’s Hospital and the Mary Seacole Nursing Home. It is committed to equality, inclusion, and fair recruitment, and encourages applications from under-represented groups.
For an informal discussion, contact Miriam Ndgege, Executive Assistant to the Deputy CEO, at miriam.ndege@nhs.net.
