Job description
Role overview
This position leads the company’s field technical training function with limited supervision. The role focuses on building and carrying out a training strategy that strengthens product adoption, improves customer outcomes, and supports overall business expansion. It manages a group of field technical trainers who provide certification and product training to customers, technicians, dealers, and channel partners across several markets.
What you’ll do
- Set the direction for field technical training so customers, technicians, and partners gain strong proficiency in the company’s products and solutions.
- Guide, coach, and manage a team of field trainers delivering customer training across North America and other assigned regions, keeping work aligned with business priorities.
- Use AI and other modern learning tools to make training programs more effective, efficient, and scalable.
- Maintain a qualified, productive team by handling staffing, performance management, reviews, and growth planning for regional training managers while keeping performance and budget goals on track.
- Coordinate training operations, including schedules, travel, resources, and performance tracking to ensure smooth delivery of services.
- Stay up to date on training methods, instructional design trends, and technology improvements through seminars, forums, and industry meetings.
- Work with dealers, architects and engineers, as well as sales and training teams, to build awareness and enthusiasm for new products and technologies.
- Represent the company at selected trade shows and industry events as a subject-matter and training ambassador when needed.
- Create a clear training vision that supports customer success, product usage, retention, and revenue growth.
- Build and keep improving curricula, certification paths, learning materials, and delivery approaches for both classroom and virtual settings.
- Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, Product, Engineering, and Marketing to make sure training supports business goals and expansion opportunities.
- Review customer results, training impact, product usage, and field feedback to spot ways to improve outcomes and drive additional sales.
- Follow the company’s data classification requirements and all internal policies.
- Look for process improvements that increase efficiency, reduce cycle time, remove waste, and better serve customers.
- Handle other assigned duties as business needs change.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technical Education, Business, Information Technology, Electronics, or a closely related field.
- At least 10 years of steadily advancing experience in technical training, customer enablement, field services, technical support, sales engineering, or similar functions.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the burglar/fire industry, preferably with the DMP product line.
- Ability to study for and score 90% or higher on advanced RTM examinations.
- CTT+ certification, or willingness to earn an equivalent credential.
- Proven success creating and delivering training programs for complex technology products, industrial equipment, software platforms, IoT solutions, or comparable systems.
- Strong experience assigning work, setting priorities, and holding team members accountable for deadlines and outcomes.
- Ability to lead distributed teams and manage field-based staff with substantial travel requirements.
- Comfort presenting technical material to technicians, operators, managers, executives, and channel partners.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Open to constructive feedback and able to use it effectively.
