Job Summary
GIBBON North America is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Director of eCommerce to spearhead the expansion of its direct-to-consumer revenue streams globally. This leadership position will oversee all aspects of the eCommerce business, focusing on driving sustainable revenue growth, enhancing profitability, and increasing customer lifetime value. The ideal candidate will have a proven history of successfully scaling online sales for high-growth consumer product companies within performance-driven frameworks. This role requires a blend of strategic vision and hands-on execution, with close collaboration across Marketing, Operations, Finance, and Product teams. The Director of eCommerce will operate on a hybrid schedule from the Solana Beach office, reporting directly to the CEO.
Key Responsibilities
- Assume full Profit & Loss responsibility for the global eCommerce operations, spanning North America and Europe.
- Cultivate, lead, and mentor a high-performing eCommerce team, fostering trust and accountability at all levels.
- Maintain complete ownership of channel performance, revenue targets, profit margins, and customer experience.
- Attract, develop, and retain top talent, promoting a culture of rapid execution and achievement.
- Collaborate with leaders in Marketplace, Digital Strategy, and Customer Experience to optimize the customer journey.
- Directly manage and develop eCommerce teams, including Product Managers, Operations specialists, Designers, and Developers.
- Formulate and implement a comprehensive eCommerce growth strategy aligned with company revenue and profitability objectives.
- Develop and manage a digital product roadmap, incorporating testing and innovation to enhance site functionality and features.
- Oversee site merchandising across all markets to balance conversion rates, customer retention, and economic viability.
- Work in tandem with the Marketing department to ensure brand messaging and storytelling are effectively conveyed online.
- Align eCommerce strategy with marketplace channels, covering product catalog, advertising, pricing, promotions, and content management.
- Ensure seamless execution of site merchandising, ongoing site optimization, and promotional campaigns.
- Actively contribute to project execution, personally taking ownership of critical initiatives and product launches.
- Coordinate with the Operations team on inventory management, fulfillment processes, and service level agreements.
- Engage closely with the Product team on new product launches, pricing strategies, assortment planning, and product lifecycle management.
- Partner with Finance and Marketing on financial forecasting, budget allocation, and performance analysis.
- Liaise with Customer Experience teams to guarantee exceptional post-purchase support and customer retention.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive leadership experience in eCommerce roles within fast-paced, high-growth consumer product companies.
- Demonstrated success in scaling a Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) or eCommerce business to achieve over $100 million in annual revenue.
- In-depth knowledge of Shopify platforms, including best practices and strategies for conversion rate optimization.
- Strong grasp of unit economics, contribution margin analysis, and demand forecasting methodologies.
- Proven ability to lead teams effectively and drive results in dynamic, high-growth environments.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and strategic decision-making capabilities.
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Economics, or a related field is preferred.
Additional Information
This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring three days per week in the Solana Beach, California office. The total compensation package for this role in San Diego, CA is projected to be between $185,000 and $265,000, encompassing base salary and performance-based bonuses. The final base pay will be determined by the candidate's relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonuses are contingent upon individual and company performance. Equity incentives may also be part of the compensation, alongside medical and 401(k) benefits.
