Job description
Role Overview
An experienced and commercially minded Business Development Director is needed to steer expansion efforts across the GCC, Levant, and selected African markets. This position calls for a person with a well-established industry network, a strategic approach to growth, and a demonstrated record of identifying and winning large opportunities in energy and infrastructure.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Spot, develop, and close new commercial opportunities in the defined sectors and regions.
- Carry out market research, track competitors, and shape strategic market positioning.
- Build and nurture relationships with government bodies, utilities, developers, and strategic allies.
- Contribute to prequalification packs, tender responses, consortium formation, and commercial deal-making.
- Lead business development efforts for EPC, PPP, BOT, BOO, and concession-led projects.
- Work closely with technical, commercial, and executive stakeholders to create strong pursuit strategies.
- Represent the organization at sector conferences, customer meetings, and regional business gatherings.
- Grow and protect strategic networks throughout the GCC, Levant, and African regions.
Experience and Background Required
- At least 15 years of experience in business development, project development, or commercial leadership.
- Substantial exposure to the power industry.
- Hands-on background in upstream and/or midstream oil and gas.
- Direct involvement in waste-to-energy initiatives.
- Additional experience in fertilizers and petrochemicals is valuable.
- Strong grasp of concessions, PPP, BOT, and project finance models.
- Prior experience with CCC or Orascom Construction is strongly preferred.
- Well-developed professional connections across GCC and/or Levant markets, including Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Libya.
- Experience in African markets would be an added advantage.
- Ability to originate and advance high-value projects and strategic partnerships.
- Excellent commercial negotiation and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Fluent Arabic speaker with strong English communication skills.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline.
- An MBA or other relevant postgraduate qualification is preferred.
