About the role

The Director, Global Payroll will own payroll operations across multiple countries and regions. This position is responsible for ensuring payroll is processed accurately, on time, and in compliance with all applicable requirements, while supporting employees and partnering with HR, Finance, and external providers in a fast-moving international software setting.

Key responsibilities

  • Direct end-to-end global payroll activities across EMEA, the Americas, and APJ.
  • Make sure all employees, including expatriates and remote team members, are paid correctly and on schedule.
  • Keep payroll practices aligned with local, national, and international tax and labor requirements.
  • Work with HR and Finance to maintain accurate employee records and compensation data.
  • Oversee payroll platforms and improve workflows through automation and process refinement.
  • Manage third-party payroll vendors and monitor the quality of service they provide.
  • Support payroll audits and statutory filing obligations.
  • Investigate and resolve complex payroll matters and respond promptly to employee payroll questions.
  • Create and run payroll training sessions for HR and leadership teams.
  • Track payroll performance indicators and share insights with senior leaders.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least 15 years of experience managing payroll across multiple countries, ideally in software or technology.
  • Strong knowledge of international payroll rules, compliance obligations, and tax considerations.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll systems such as ADP, SAP SuccessFactors, Workday, or similar tools.
  • Excellent planning, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and cultures.
  • Comfort handling sensitive information with a high degree of discretion.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are considered an advantage.

Bonus qualifications

  • Professional payroll certification such as CPP, CIPP, or an equivalent credential.
  • Background in a fast-growing international software business.
  • Proven success in improving processes and introducing new technology.
  • Strong leadership and team management capability.
  • Ability to stay effective and adaptable in a rapidly changing environment.

Benefits and compensation

The role includes a monthly cash allowance equal to 10% of the employee’s gross base salary per calendar month, intended to help cover healthcare, pension, and life assurance needs. Compensation is structured as total target compensation, including base salary and a performance-based bonus.
