Job description

About the Institute

N. L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies & Research (NLDIMSR), part of the NL Dalmia Educational Society, is built on a long-standing culture of academic discipline, integrity, and education with clear outcomes. The Society has developed a respected network of institutions with a consistent emphasis on building learning environments that stay relevant to industry needs and are prepared for the future. NLDIMSR is known for strong placement performance, close engagement with industry—especially financial services—and a high-calibre student community. With a solid base and a forward-looking ambition, the institute aims to advance academic quality, innovation, industry partnership, and meaningful management education.

The institute is at an important turning point and aspires to grow into a nationally respected business school with deep industry integration and global relevance. Applications are invited for the Director role to guide the institute through its next phase of growth and institution building.

Role Purpose

The institute is seeking a Director who can accelerate growth, strengthen institutional excellence, and help place NLDIMSR among India’s leading B-schools. This is a chance for a visionary leader to shape strategy, inspire the team, and leave a lasting mark on the institution.

Key Mandate

  • Provide academic direction and strategic leadership for the institute.
  • Elevate teaching standards, research output, and overall academic quality in line with top management schools.
  • Lead the design and modernization of curricula and academic programs to match emerging industry expectations.
  • Develop and sustain a strong faculty community and a vibrant research culture.
  • Expand industry collaboration across degree programs, executive education, and placements.
  • Improve the institute’s reputation through rankings, partnerships, and national and international collaborations.
  • Oversee governance, regulatory adherence, and institutional systems and processes.

Reporting Structure

The Director will report to the Management Council.

Eligibility Criteria

A PhD or an equivalent qualification in a relevant field from a recognised institution is mandatory.

Academic leaders: Candidates should bring 15–20+ years of experience in teaching, research, or academic administration, including at least 5–10 years in senior leadership positions. A demonstrated record of research, publications, and wider academic contribution is required, along with experience in institution building, academic administration, and governance.

Industry leaders with an academic orientation: Candidates should have 15–20+ years of senior leadership experience in a relevant sector. They should have engaged with academia through teaching, guest/visiting assignments, advisory roles, or partnerships, and must show a strong understanding of academic governance, curriculum development, and talent building. The ability to connect industry and academia effectively is essential.

Shared requirements: Applicants should be well-versed in AICTE, UGC, and NIRF regulations and accreditation frameworks, demonstrate the ability to work with industry, governing bodies, and other external stakeholders, and bring both strategic thinking and disciplined execution.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Lead an established institution with a credible legacy.
  • Step into a clear inflection point where alignment, intent, and investment are already in place.
  • Shape academic direction, faculty development, and institutional outcomes end to end.
  • Work with a committed Educational Society that has a long-term vision.
  • Build a platform for visible, long-lasting impact in management education.
  • The role is open to distinguished leaders worldwide, including returning Indians.
  • Compensation will be aligned to the scale and significance of the position.
