Job description

Opportunity

Zayed University’s Communications and Media Department is looking for a Digital Content and Creative Media Manager to oversee video editing and graphic design work. The role is responsible for ensuring that multimedia delivery is efficient, service-focused, and aligned with the department’s standards. It includes coordinating the full production cycle for promotional videos, supporting the Graphic Artist and Web Editor with graphics and multimedia materials, and contributing creative direction through design ideas, storyboards, artwork, and technical guidance for multimedia publications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily work of department staff, university faculty, and any external contractors, vendors, or freelancers involved in publication-related work.
  • Build, protect, and maintain a consistent visual identity across Zayed University’s communications.
  • Strengthen the existing visual identity across both print and web-based publications.
  • Track project workflows and timelines in coordination with staff, camera crews, stock footage resources, news archives, broadcast outlets, audio studios, and other vendors.
  • Create accurate multimedia DVDs that deliver timely, brand-consistent content to target audiences.
  • Lead the full video production process, working with the Director of Government Communications and video clients to define content and scripts, and coordinating with filming and production vendors where needed.
  • Choose, edit, and combine analog and digital video material for promotional content.
  • Develop video graphics, motion elements, animation, and special effects for university videos and related multimedia projects.
  • Work with university departments, colleges, and units to support the design and production of promotional videos.
  • Maintain quality control throughout video and multimedia projects, including sound mixing, final production, and every production stage.
  • Build and update a stock library of video footage for future editing and reuse.
  • Coordinate with the Media Services Technician to obtain footage through original filming or access to university archives.
  • Personally capture digital video footage when required.
  • Coordinate filming activities with external production companies when needed.
  • Provide basic graphic support for print publications.
  • Support the creation of promotional CD-ROMs and DVDs.
  • Ensure an adequate supply of still images for university publications through photo shoots or high-definition images extracted from digital video.
  • Source commercially available stock footage and recommend purchases when appropriate.
  • Handle vendor contracts and all related transactions for the publication department, from quotations and bids through purchase orders and delivery.
  • Manage projects collaboratively with writers, artists, designers, IT specialists, and printers, while fostering a productive team environment.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related discipline, ideally with a focus on video filmmaking, editing, and graphics, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience in video production or a closely related area.
  • Strong computer skills, including solid knowledge of both PC and Macintosh operating systems.
  • Hands-on experience with industry-standard software for video editing, animation, and graphic design.
  • Proven ability to produce a complete film, including shooting, music and dialogue recording, lighting control, graphics, special effects, and editing.
  • Experience planning, producing, and managing video and multimedia projects for delivery across multiple formats such as hard drive, DVD, CD, PowerPoint, web, and PAL.
  • Strong command of the English language.
  • Background in graphic arts with managerial or supervisory responsibility is preferred.
  • Arabic is beneficial but not mandatory.

Benefits

The university offers a highly competitive package that includes tax-free pay in the UAE, housing support in cash, annual flight tickets for the employee and immediate family, education support for children, and medical coverage for the employee and sponsored family members.
