Job description

About the organisation

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is committed to a culture built on openness, honesty and values-led behaviour. Communication and engagement are central to that culture, helping shape how staff, patients and the public experience the organisation.

This role sits at the heart of that work, supporting internal communication, public information, and digital engagement across the Health Board. The postholder will help strengthen dialogue with staff, support behaviour change through clear messaging, and provide accessible public-facing information on service changes, major incidents and how to use services.

The role also includes creating digital platforms and content that recognise staff achievements, showcase good practice and build trust in the Health Board as both a healthcare provider and an employer of choice.

Experience producing video content for social media is essential.

Key duties

  • Design and deliver digital communication activity that responds to both internal audiences and external users, balancing planned work with urgent operational needs.
  • Oversee your own video production workload, setting priorities, allocating tasks and adapting quickly when urgent requests arise.
  • Take ownership of video production from concept development and scripting through to filming and post-production.
  • Use influence and persuasion to guide committees and colleagues toward suitable digital communication approaches.
  • Contribute digital input to communication plans and recommend solutions that support social marketing and positive behaviour change.
  • Offer specialist advice on digital promotional material and online content.
  • Track performance and trends across owned digital channels, monitor broader sentiment and escalate any significant reputational risks to senior colleagues with suggestions for response.
  • Write, edit and publish digital content; take basic photographs; plan, shoot and edit simple videos; and create straightforward graphics for promotional use.

Its mission is “Living Well, Caring Well, Working Together”, and its vision is to help ensure that every person has an equal chance of living a healthy life. The long-term improvement programme, Shaping Our Future Wellbeing, supports collaboration with the public and workforce to make services more sustainable for the future.
