Job description
About the Brand
Tatcha is a luxury Japanese skincare company inspired by enduring Japanese beauty traditions. Its formulas combine Japanese botanicals with clinically backed ingredients, and its approach is guided by the principle of hinou dokon, which reflects the close relationship between skin and mind. The brand focuses on caring for people through skincare rituals that support both skin health and mindfulness.
Role Overview
Tatcha is looking for a Digital Art Director who sees luxury as a benchmark, not a market segment. In this position, you will define the brand’s visual presence across digital channels including e-commerce, paid media, email, and related touchpoints. Your work will turn brand strategy into elevated imagery, motion, and digital experiences that feel refined, intentional, and distinctly Tatcha.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and protect the brand’s digital visual language across owned and paid channels so every touchpoint feels consistent and high quality.
- Build and refine the digital design system, including typography, color, image direction, motion, and layout, while staying aligned with brand standards.
- Direct photography and video production for digital usage, covering e-commerce, campaigns, and social content.
- Work closely with the brand creative team to ensure digital output supports and expands the brand’s luxury positioning.
- Lead creative development for digital campaigns, from seasonal launches to always-on content, KSM, and promotional assets.
- Convert campaign briefs into connected visual stories that work effectively across multiple formats and platforms.
- Provide direction to agencies, photographers, retouchers, and production partners with clear creative guidance and specific feedback.
- Partner with digital product and UX teams to make sure the on-site experience is as thoughtfully designed as the rest of the brand experience.
- Guide product and lifestyle imagery with an understanding of both aesthetic quality and e-commerce performance.
- Mentor junior digital designers, setting a strong example for craftsmanship and purposeful execution.
- Coordinate with project management to build realistic creative timelines and safeguard work quality.
- Present concepts and finished work in reviews with senior leaders, communicating decisions with confidence and clarity.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate has a refined sense of what luxury should look and feel like, and can tell the difference between merely attractive work and truly elevated work. You are comfortable discussing brand strategy as well as working hands-on in design tools. You give thoughtful, precise feedback and are receptive to input from others. Most importantly, you care deeply about the quality of the work.
Qualifications
- 6 to 10 years of design experience, including at least 3 years in an art direction or senior design role; experience in beauty is an advantage.
- A portfolio showing strong luxury sensibility, with work that feels restrained, deliberate, and visually polished.
- Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite; motion and video editing experience is highly desirable.
- Background in art directing photo and video shoots, both during production and in post-production.
- Solid understanding of digital design principles for web, email, and social media.
- Ability to collaborate across teams and manage several projects at once without lowering standards.
- A sharp eye, a strong creative point of view, and the maturity to advocate for excellent work.
Compensation and Benefits
The expected base pay range for this role is USD 150,000 to USD 160,000 annually. Actual compensation will depend on experience, skills, education, location, and budget.
This position also qualifies for the company’s discretionary bonus program, based on personal performance and overall business results.
Eligible employees may receive a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life, accident, critical illness, and disability insurance; retirement savings plans with company match; paid family leave; education-related programs; paid time off; and paid holidays.
