About the Role

The Developer position in the ABM Domain reports to the Senior Manager, Engineering, and involves working closely with the ABM engineering team to convert business requirements into cloud-native, scalable, and secure technical solutions that improve ABM functionality. This role suits recent graduates in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields, who are enthusiastic about learning and helping deliver excellent client experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Modernize legacy applications by migrating them to cloud-native microservices on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Perform system analysis, create technical designs, document workflows, and provide support for both existing and new systems.
- Advise on best practice implementations aligned with the bank's evolving technology roadmap.
- Collaborate with project teams to clarify technical requirements and guide design leveraging industry standards.
- Develop, test, debug, document, and deploy applications and automation scripts.
- Assist in project effort estimation and development planning.
- Engage in production support, troubleshoot issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement fixes.
- Participate in deployment activities ensuring seamless release management.
- Provide insights into system behaviors and identify areas for technological improvements within the ABM Engineering team.
- Contribute toward the enhancement of team skills and technical knowledge.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- 1-2 years of practical experience developing RESTful APIs with Java and Spring Boot, including knowledge of systems analysis and enterprise solution design for cloud-native, message-driven, test-driven, reactive, and containerized applications.
- Proficiency with GCP and/or AWS, Java 17+, Spring Boot 3+, SQL, MongoDB, CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, and modern front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, Angular/React, jQuery, and Bootstrap.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with C# and .NET frameworks.
- Familiarity with developer tools/platforms including Eclipse/STS, IntelliJ, VS Code, Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, Git, and Gradle/Maven.
- Exposure to containerization and orchestration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience using observability and monitoring tools like Splunk and Dynatrace.
- Knowledge of event streaming and caching systems such as Kafka and Redis.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills with business partners and external vendors.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to emerging technologies and evolving business needs.
- Experience or interest in financial services, specifically payment systems, ATM/ABM platforms, or systems handling high-volume transactions.
Work Logistics
This role requires presence at the Scarborough office in Ontario, Canada, four days per week.
