Role overview
PUMA is looking for a Designer II to support the golf apparel line from its Carlsbad, CA location. This role contributes to seasonal product creation, works across design and development functions, and helps shape apparel that reflects the brand direction, market needs, and product goals.
What you’ll do
- Collaborate with the Director of Design to build seasonal international apparel collections, including tech packs and product development work.
- Develop apparel assortments that support brand strategy, follow the seasonal creative direction, and meet target cost and margin requirements.
- Coordinate apparel design communication across teams and contribute creative ideas that strengthen innovation.
- Prepare and present persuasive seasonal concepts and presentation materials together with the design and product teams.
- Visit retail stores, key accounts, and competitor locations to stay current on the market and competitive landscape.
- Take part in product line reviews and present seasonal trend and color direction in design meetings alongside the Director of Design.
- Work with the Development Team to research fabrics, construction methods, materials, and applications, while assessing supplier base capabilities and limitations.
- Support the development cycle with developers and technical designers to ensure fit and styling standards are met, including fit sessions and reviews.
- Produce accurate and timely CADs, color flows, and technical packages according to the design and development calendar.
- Be flexible and collaborative, with the willingness to support other product categories when needed to deliver best-in-class product.
What we’re looking for
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred, ideally in a design-related discipline.
- 2 to 4 years of design experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- A strong eye for graphic-led design.
- Openness to learning new software tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team and adapt to the design group’s culture.
- Strong organization skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at different stages with accuracy in a fast-moving environment.
- Knowledge of performance and lifestyle apparel markets, including color and trend awareness.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally as required.
- Understanding of the textile, sporting goods, and consumer products industries, including the look, quality, and market positioning of PUMA and its direct competitors.
Compensation and benefits
The base pay range for this role is $70,304 to $83,380, plus bonus and benefits. Final pay may differ depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
