About the Role

St Vincent's Private Hospital is seeking a dedicated Day and Night Porter to join the Portering Department for a 1-year fixed-term contract. This full-time, onsite position involves a 39-hour work week, operating across seven days. The role is crucial in supporting hospital operations and ensuring the smooth delivery of patient care.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive general portering services.
  • Be available to work rotating day and night shifts as scheduled.
  • Safely transport patients across the hospital campus according to established policies.
  • Deliver specimens, medications, and portable gases as per the job specification and hospital procedures.
  • Maintain effective communication and handovers with the Portering Officer, Supervisors, and colleagues.
  • Report any health and safety concerns promptly to the Portering Officer or the appropriate department.
  • Adhere to all statutory legislation and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in working hours and days to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Assist in other departments as a member of the facilities team, with potential for role variation.
  • Receive comprehensive training for all duties.

    Additional Information

    Remuneration will be in line with the salary scale approved by the Department of Health & Children.
