Tanaq Management Services (TMS) provides professional, scientific, technical, and IT services to federal agencies across health, agriculture, technology, and other government service areas. TMS operates as a subsidiary of St. George Tanaq Corporation, an Alaska Native Corporation, and supports federal customers while also contributing to the Tanaq native community and shareholders.
About the Role
TMS is hiring a Data Analyst I to support the Translation, Health Education and Evaluation Branch (THEEB). The branch translates public health science into practical action, evaluates public health program impact, and shares health messaging with partners to support the Division of Diabetes Translation (DDT).
This role is full-time and fully remote within the United States. Some travel may be needed for site visits to complete assigned tasks and activities. The position depends on contract award.
Responsibilities
- Support data extraction, data management, data integration, and advanced analytics, including work that explores how implementation processes relate to program outcomes.
- Pull APR and performance measurement data; build structured analytical datasets; align and standardize variables across reporting periods; and maintain clear records of extraction methods.
- Clean and validate data systematically, flag missing or inconsistent records, create repeatable validation scripts, and document data issues along with the fixes applied.
- Assemble DPRP encounter-level datasets, run descriptive and longitudinal analyses, assess participation and outcomes, and produce standardized outputs.
- Assemble ADA and ADCES datasets, align data elements across sources, perform cross-site comparisons, and evaluate reach and outcomes.
- Find appropriate national datasets when directed, acquire and merge secondary data, conduct comparative and contextual analyses, document assumptions and limitations, and apply methods that assess how factors such as reach, fidelity, and adaptation affect outcomes.
- Handle additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2–3 years of experience conducting both qualitative and quantitative data analysis, ideally in public health.
- Working knowledge of public health research and evaluation concepts, methods, and approaches used to analyze, assess, and advise on findings.
- Understanding of scientific methods, current technologies, and analytical practices relevant to the role’s technical area.
- Ability to carry out complex analytical studies and interpret results to support program evaluation and improvement recommendations.
- Experience using implementation measures such as reach, fidelity, dose, and adaptation, and connecting those measures to outcomes.
- Background in mixed-methods analysis, including integration of qualitative and quantitative data.
- Strong oral and written communication skills for presentations, recommendations, guidance, inquiries, and interaction with officials and public/private public health stakeholders.
- Knowledge of rules and processes governing intramural and extramural program development, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Ability to work with CDC administrative systems such as HUMAN SUBJECTS, OMB and IRB, and E-Clearance.
- Prior experience working with government procedures and guidelines.
- CDC or broader public health experience is preferred.
- Ability to obtain a government clearance.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
Education and Training
A bachelor’s degree in public health, data analysis, statistics, or a related discipline is required. A master’s degree, preferably an MPH with a focus on epidemiology, data analysis, or statistics, is strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Extended periods of sitting and computer-based work are expected.
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required.
