Role summary
The Cylinder Room Labourer position with Bureau Veritas is focused on preparing, handling, and organizing pressure cylinders used to collect oil and gas samples. The role also covers basic equipment care, inventory handling, shipping support, and coordination with internal teams to keep daily work moving efficiently.
Key duties
- Clean and ready pressure cylinders (sample vessels) for oil and gas sample collection.
- Process oil samples through solvent recirculation and treat gas samples with steam and dry air, followed by vacuuming and cylinder preparation.
- Pack sample cylinders into boxes, secure them with strapping, apply labels, and organize them for client pickup or shipment.
- Work at one station performing repetitive motions for up to 2 hours before moving on to the next assignment.
- Use computers, Microsoft 365, and email in English to communicate and complete tasks.
- Check, care for, and maintain cylinder room tools and equipment on a routine basis.
- Track inventory levels for supplies, parts, accessories, and other shipping-related consumables.
- Keep communication open within the department to help identify and respond to client requirements.
- Carry out the day’s work based on supervisor priorities, including handling urgent requests as they arise.
- Support other areas of the Technical Services Group when needed.
- Update parts inventory and place orders for replacement parts.

Requirements
- High school diploma or a higher level of education.
- Practical mechanical ability, especially with tools used for cylinder repairs and testing.
- Shipping experience is preferred.
- Strong awareness of safety and consistent follow-through on company safety procedures.
- Comfort using email, Excel, and computers extensively.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Solid time management, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
- Positive attitude and the ability to perform well in a busy environment.
- Ability to work on your own as well as collaboratively.
- Strong attention to detail and good record-keeping habits.
- Experience handling all or most of the listed tasks is preferred.

Schedule
This is a Monday-to-Friday role. Overtime may be required, including some weekends, when workload demands increase.
