Role overview
This is a contract-based independent contractor opportunity designed for a part-time professional who can work with a flexible schedule. The work is remote and centered on evaluating and preparing cybersecurity-related outputs for model assessment. Compensation is approximately $1,800 to $2,100 for each completed task, with additional eligibility for performance-based bonuses.
Core work
- Assess and verify model-produced responses covering threat analysis, vulnerability reviews, incident triage, and security architecture guidance.
- Create realistic cyber scenarios and supporting materials such as incident response playbooks, threat-hunting queries, penetration testing summaries, security control reviews, and SOC decision trees.
- Tag, classify, and validate data across areas such as CVE categorization, attack vector mapping, SIEM alert handling, and malware behavior review.
- Deliver structured feedback on model quality using frameworks and standards including NIST CSF, MITRE ATT&CK, CIS Controls, ISO 27001, and threat intelligence formats such as STIX/TAXII.
- Work asynchronously with research teams to improve evaluation methods for cybersecurity-focused language models.
Candidate profile
- Demonstrated background in cybersecurity gained in an enterprise, MSSP, consulting, or government/defense setting.
- Hands-on exposure in at least one of the following: SOC operations, incident response and digital forensics, penetration testing, red team activity, threat intelligence, cloud security across AWS/Azure/GCP, zero-trust design, or governance/risk/compliance work involving NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, or FedRAMP.
- Ability to convert real-world security operations and architecture processes into structured tasks that can be used for annotation and evaluation.
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to explain technical security concepts clearly and accurately.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, OSCP, GIAC, or Security+ are advantageous.
