About the Role
At Nespresso, the focus is on people and premium specialty coffee. The company aims to create meaningful impact through care, innovation, sustainability, diversity, and inclusion, while continuing to raise the standard of global coffee culture as a certified B Corporation. This position is based in New York, NY and is designed for someone who can help make Nespresso the preferred single-serve coffee brand with strategic retail partners.
Position Summary
The Customer Account Manager (Target) will lead commercial growth across key accounts by strengthening the Nespresso ecosystem, improving category performance, and expanding brand visibility. The role centers on building trusted partnerships with buying offices and merchandising headquarters, while managing both short- and long-term Joint Business Plans with key accounts, machine partners, and Nestlé Coffee Partners. Success in this role means driving high-value consumer acquisition through the combined machine, Nespresso-branded coffee, and NABs coffee portfolios.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and manage strategic short- and long-term Joint Business Plans with key accounts to increase consumer acquisition through the integrated Nespresso ecosystem.
- Plan and align promotional activity such as customer-specific offers, paid media, in-store marketing, events, demonstrations, and catalog placements in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
- Use category data, market movements, and competitor benchmarking to support category management and uncover growth opportunities.
- Identify and pursue initiatives that support new member acquisition, NNS, and stronger brand awareness with trade and machine partners.
- Build distribution and growth plans for key accounts, while increasing the contribution of the NABs coffee portfolio, growing VL machine share, and protecting against compatible alternatives.
- Ensure the NABs customer journey directs consumers toward Nespresso direct-to-consumer channels.
- Develop competitive and risk-management approaches based on shopper, market, and competitive insights.
- Maintain strong relationships with current and prospective accounts, including machine partners, and influence stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Lead commercial negotiations with key accounts, including NAB margin discussions and point-of-sale merchandising investments.
- Drive new item launches, execute Nespresso corner strategy, and implement incentive actions that keep Nespresso visible to key account teams and store staff.
- Partner with eRetail, Trade Marketing, Retail, B2B, Field Teams, Marketing, E-Commerce, and Supply Chain to ensure omnichannel execution, retail development, visibility, logistics, and stock readiness.
- Track market results against plan and share updates on assortment changes, promotions, activations, and forecasts.
- Manage budgets, investments, and business cases to maximize return on investment while staying aligned with company policies, business principles, and B Corp expectations.
- Support the Operating Master Plan and Nestlé Continuous Excellence initiatives.
- Forecast capsule and machine demand accurately, ensure sell-in and sell-out alignment, participate in monthly business processes, and support process improvements that strengthen business KPIs.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or Economics is preferred; relevant experience may be accepted instead of a degree.
- At least 5 years of experience in national account management or national account sales is strongly preferred.
- Direct experience working with Target in a key account management role, or in a similar position, is required.
- You must be able to analyze and interpret sales data and turn insights into strategy and action plans.
- Experience handling budgets and improving return on investment is preferred.
- Travel of approximately 15% is required.
- This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
