Role overview

As a Customer Account Executive, you will focus on preserving and expanding the commercial customer base while helping establish the foundation for future sales efforts at dbt Labs. This position is based in Dublin and requires working from the office 4 days each week.

Key responsibilities

You will manage a portfolio of SMB and mid-market accounts with responsibility for both retention and growth. The role involves spotting expansion opportunities, taking them through the full sales process, and serving as the main contact for customers so you can understand their objectives and identify risks early.

You will also own the end-to-end sales cycle for customers and contribute to the development of the at-scale commercial motion. Since this is a newly formed function, your ideas and feedback will help shape how it evolves.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate brings at least 2 years of closing experience in technology sales and a strong record of exceeding annual targets. You should be comfortable handling a high-volume business portfolio across SMB and mid-market accounts with both retention and expansion goals.

You need the ability to understand complex technical topics and translate them into a consultative selling approach. Strong relationship-building skills are important, as the role depends on developing long-term partnerships with customers.

Excellent verbal, written, and face-to-face communication skills are required, along with the confidence to engage stakeholders ranging from individual developers to CTOs. You should be highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage long, multi-threaded sales cycles across multiple stakeholder groups.

Success in this role also requires comfort with a fast-moving, uncertain environment, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to building an inclusive culture. Experience with SQL is helpful, though a willingness to learn is also acceptable. Candidates must be based in Dublin and comfortable being in the office 3 to 4 days per week.

Hiring process

The selection process is expected to include a conversation with a Talent Acquisition Partner to align on the role and the experience the team values, followed by an interview with the Hiring Manager.

Next, candidates can expect 1:1 team interviews with members of the Sales and Solutions Architecture teams, followed by a project stage.
