Role overview

The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board (KPDSB) is hiring a full-time custodian for Sioux Mountain Public School in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. This is a 1.0 FTE position working 40 hours per week, scheduled from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm. The wage range is CAD 26.49 to CAD 29.10 per hour, the role is unionized under CUPE, and the expected start date is immediate.

Position summary

Reporting to the Principal, Area Supervisor, or another designated leader, the custodian is responsible for the overall care and upkeep of the facility and surrounding grounds. The role involves carrying out caretaking duties in line with the Caretakers Manual/Plan Assist and may also include system-wide caretaking assignments when needed.

Qualifications

Applicants should have completed Grade 12 or an equivalent level of education and must be able to communicate effectively. The role requires the ability to carry out the duties of the position, familiarity with commercial cleaning products, materials, and their uses, and knowledge of cleaning methods for public buildings. Candidates must also be able to follow both verbal and written instructions. A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check or Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check is required at the employee’s expense.
