Job overview
Bering-Alaka`ina Holdings is seeking a Custodian to support the Haleakalā National Park Summit District in Maui, Hawai'i. This position includes a one-time signing bonus in addition to regular pay.
Key duties
- Deliver custodial support across the Summit District, covering two visitor centers, several administrative offices, one campground, and multiple trailheads.
- Carry out routine cleaning work such as removing trash and recycling, cleaning mirrors and drinking fountains, spot cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, dusting, and disinfecting restrooms.
- Clean and sanitize fixtures and surfaces, including descaling toilet bowls and urinals.
- Sweep, mop, and disinfect floors, and replenish restroom supplies.
- Handle graffiti removal, minor repair-related cleaning support, clogged or blocked toilets, and emergency cleaning needs.
- Assist with special events and complete periodic deep-cleaning assignments.
- Perform any other related duties assigned.
Education and licensing
- High school diploma or an equivalent credential is required.
- A valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.
Experience and job requirements
- At least 2 years of custodial experience is required.
- Must be physically able to lift up to 30 lbs and remain on your feet for extended periods.
- Should be able to plan time effectively so tasks are completed within assigned schedules while maintaining quality.
- Need a working understanding of health and safety rules, including safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Must pay close attention to detail to keep facilities clean, orderly, and presentable to visitors.
- Ability to use small hand tools and portable power tools is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be able to pass a federal background check.
Compensation and benefits
